FAQ & info

About material requirements, delivery times, formats, etc.

Here you will find important information about submitting material for processing or printing – and answers to many other frequently asked questions.

Material requirements

Print-ready material usually consists of a PDF with bleed and crop marks. We carry out a technical check of the PDF and will get back to you if it requires any adjustments before printing.

Please contact us if you wish to submit files in a different format, for example to get help with final editing or print proofing.

  • Effective resolution of images ought to be circa 300 ppi.
  • In Adobe's applications you should choose the colour setting Europe Prepress 3 or Prepress (Europe) 3. This activates the correct colour profiles – Coated FOGRA39 and Adobe RGB.
  • In Affinity Publisher, choose CMYK and Coated FOGRA39 when you set up your document.
  • Images should be finalized in Adobe RGB. Images should, in other words, not be separated to CMYK.
  • Bleed should be at least three millimeters (for larger formats we would like to have five millimeters).
  • Download and use our job option for PDF export from Indesign.
  • If you use Affinity Publisher, choose PDF version PDF/X-4 and select bleed and printer marks. Use DPI 300 and Coated FOGRA39.
  • Use the university's logo and colour palette in Pantone (PMS) for production in Lund University's graphic profile. This is correctly set in the templates available in the Image and Media Bank.

Anything else to bear in mind?

The number of pages must be divisible by 4 if a brochure is to be folded and stapled in the spine, normally from eight to 48 pages. For larger page counts, we will probably need to perfect bind it – in which case the number of pages can be divisible by 2.
